HTTP 307 Temporary Redirect
In short: Temporary redirect in which method and body stay unchanged.
In more detail: Unlike 302 the client must not silently turn a POST into a GET. It repeats the same request at the new address. Search engines keep the old address in the index.
In Depth
When it occurs
- Redirecting HTTP to HTTPS (with HSTS often internally as 307).
- Maintenance redirect where form data must be preserved.
What you can do
- As a visitor there is nothing to do.
- Operators: use 307 for temporary redirects that keep the method, 302 only if GET is enough; for permanent moves use 308 or 301.
