Electric Cars
In short: Electric cars drive with an electric motor and a battery instead of a combustion engine.
In more detail: The energy store is a large battery (mostly lithium-ion) with typically 40 to over 100 kWh.
In Depth
Technology
- Drive: electric motor with high efficiency.
- Regeneration: energy is recovered when braking.
- Charging: alternating current (AC, for example wallbox) or direct current (DC, fast chargers). In Europe Type 2 and CCS connectors.
Software
Electric cars are computers on wheels: over-the-air updates, assistance systems, apps. See rechargeable batteries, chargers.
