Vishing
In short: Vishing is phishing by telephone (“voice phishing”).
In more detail: Callers pose as bank employees, police, Microsoft support or a grandchild. The displayed number is often forged (spoofing).
In Depth
Typical scams
A fake bank adviser demands TANs, supposed support wants remote access (see remote control), the “grandchild trick” against older people. Voices cloned with AI make calls more convincing (AI phishing).
Rules
Banks never ask for a PIN or TAN. Hang up and call back yourself on the known number. Never install remote maintenance software on request.
