Application to the family court: structure and content

In short: The application to the family court is informal. It names the child, describes the planned business and explains that school or training will not suffer. Both parents sign.

In more detail: Because there is no official form, the quality of the description decides. The court wants to understand quickly what the child plans, what risk exists and why it benefits the child. A clear, honest one-page text is often enough.

In detail

  • Addressee: the local court (family court) of the child’s place of residence.
  • Header: name, date of birth and address of the child, names of the parents.
  • Content: type of business, start, expected revenue and profit, hours per week, capital needed.
  • School and training: how will the business be compatible with them? E.g. only at weekends, no work during exam periods.
  • Risk: small purchases, no loans, no employees, possibly liability insurance.
  • Signatures: of both parents with custody, plus consent and copies of ID cards.
  • Attachments: short description, rough income-and-expense estimate, birth certificate if requested.
