Shopping safely online
In short: Buy from known shops, check the imprint and reviews, use safe payment methods such as pay on invoice or PayPal buyer protection, and be wary of prices that are too good.
In more detail: Fake shops lure with extremely low prices, never deliver or demand prepayment. Serious shops have a complete imprint, clear prices including shipping and state the right of withdrawal.
In Depth
- Imprint and terms: Full address, contact, return information.
- Payment method: Pay on invoice, direct debit or buyer protection. Avoid prepayment by transfer to strangers.
- Compare prices: A price far below the market is a warning sign.
- Encryption: https in the address. The padlock is necessary but not a seal of quality.
- Read reviews critically: Look for patterns and authenticity.
- Withdrawal: For online purchases usually a 14-day right of withdrawal (exceptions exist).
- Keep receipts: Save the order confirmation and invoice.
