Plants: structure and growth
In short: Plants consist of root, shoot and leaves. They grow by cell division at the tips, take up water and nutrients through the roots and produce sugar through photosynthesis.
In more detail: Seed plants reproduce via flowers, fertilisation and seeds.
In detail
- Root: Anchors, absorbs water and minerals (bodenaufbau-und-humus).
- Shoot: Stem or trunk conducts water (xylem) and sugar (phloem).
- Leaves: Photosynthesis and gas exchange through stomata (fotosynthese).
- Flower: Reproductive organ, often pollinated by insects (insekten-und-bestaeuber).
- Seeds: Contain embryo and nutritive tissue; germination needs water, warmth, oxygen.
- Growth: Light, water, temperature and nutrients determine it (duengen-grundlagen).
- Growth direction: Shoots grow towards light (phototropism), roots downwards.
- Gardening: Location and care follow the needs of the species (aussaat-und-pflanzzeiten).
