Swimming: technique and health
In short: Swimming trains the whole body gently on the joints. The main strokes are front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. Even breathing and a calm position in the water are the basis.
In more detail: In water buoyancy carries part of the body weight (auftrieb-und-archimedes). That relieves joints and spine.
In detail
- Breaststroke: The most common beginner stroke, head above water, frog-like leg kick.
- Front crawl: Fast and efficient, breathing to the side, arms pulling alternately.
- Backstroke: Good for the back, free breathing.
- Position in the water: Keep hips near the surface, body stretched.
- Safety: Never alone in unfamiliar waters, do not jump overheated into cold water, always supervise children.
- Beginner badge: The first swimming badge for children is not enough for swimming safely.
- Help: Emergency call 112 for bathing accidents (erste-hilfe-grundlagen).
