Manjaro and EndeavourOS
In short: Manjaro and EndeavourOS make Arch Linux more suitable for everyday use: graphical installer, preconfigured desktop, yet current software.
In more detail: Both use pacman. Manjaro has its own repositories with slightly delayed, tested updates. EndeavourOS uses the Arch repositories directly and stays close to the original.
In detail
- Manjaro: editions KDE Plasma, GNOME, Xfce. Own tools (hardware detection, kernel management). Updates one to two weeks later than Arch.
- EndeavourOS: successor of Antergos. “Calamares” installer, little preconfiguration, community forum.
- CachyOS: optimised packages and kernel for performance, popular with gamers.
- Caution: the AUR does not always get along with Manjaro because of the delayed packages.
- Better choice for beginners: Fedora, Mint or Ubuntu because they are more stable.
