Student company and small business

In short: A student company is a school project for practice. It is usually not a business of its own but runs under the umbrella of the school. Anyone who really wants to make profit permanently needs their own business.

In more detail: Student companies often follow rules of the ministry of education, have a teacher as supervisor and a school account. Profits may mostly be used only within the school. It is a good start to gain experience without an approval procedure.

In detail

  • Legally: the school bears responsibility, not the pupils privately.
  • Insurance: usually via the school, statutory school accident insurance applies.
  • Business: whoever sells permanently outside school needs their own business.
  • Advantage: practice in planning, teamwork, bookkeeping.
