Deregistering and changing a registration

In short: Anyone who stops the activity, relocates the business or changes the type of trade must report it to the trade office. This also applies when the legal form or name changes.

In more detail: The Trade Regulation Act requires notification of cessation, relocation and significant changes. The office informs the tax office, the chamber and other bodies. The report to the tax office does not replace deregistration at the trade office.

In detail

  • Deregistration: informal or by form, usually for a small fee or free.
  • Change: for a new address, name, activity or start.
  • Tax office: also tell it about the cessation and file a final tax return.
  • Deadlines: deadlines and consequences differ by municipality. Report early.
  • Dormant: “dormant” is not a usual legal state. If you no longer sell, deregister.
  • Purpose: a missing deregistration can lead to further chamber fees and reminders.
