extends

In short: extends specifies in Java that a class inherits from another (or an interface extends another).

In more detail: The subclass takes over attributes and methods of the superclass and can add to or override them.

class Dog extends Animal { }

Java allows only one superclass (multiple inheritance exists only via interfaces). With super you access the superclass. See inheritance, override.
