Receipt Printers

In short: A receipt printer prints sales receipts and tickets, usually on thermal paper.

In more detail: It needs no ink or toner: a thermal print head heats the paper at the desired spots, which turns black.

Technology

• Paper width usually 58 mm or 80 mm.
• Controlled often with ESC/POS commands via USB, LAN, Bluetooth or serial.
• Cutter and cash drawer connection for tills.

Note

Thermal receipts fade over time. In Germany, requirements of the cash register security ordinance (TSE) must be observed for tills. See label printers, printers.
