Controversy

In March 2022 the BSI warned against using Kaspersky products because of possible influence by the Russian state, since antivirus software has deep access to systems. In the USA, sales were banned in 2024.

Assessment

The warning concerns trust in the manufacturer, not detection performance. Alternatives: Microsoft Defender (Windows Defender) and other vendors. See anti-malware.
