AI Act
In short: The AI Act is the EU law regulating artificial intelligence.
In more detail: It entered into force on 1 August 2024 and applies in stages: bans from February 2025, rules for general-purpose AI models from August 2025, most duties for high-risk systems from 2026/2027.

Risk classes
- Unacceptable risk: banned (for example social scoring).
- High risk: strict duties (applicant selection, lending).
- Limited risk: transparency duties (chatbots must identify themselves, label AI content).
- Minimal risk: free.
