ePrivacy Directive
In short: The ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) governs data protection in electronic communication in the EU.
In more detail: It is often called the “cookie directive” because it requires consent for cookies (Art. 5(3)). It applies in addition to the GDPR.
